Do you want to look into what Business English teaching entails today? Would you like to hone your professional skills? Are you willing to belong to a group of peers where ideas, thoughts and concerns are shared and explored collaboratively resulting in huge professional growth? Come join APIBA's BE Special Interest Group!

As the BESIG 2015 objective was a Redefinition of what BE training means these days, which led to the creation of a highly innovative 'Diplomatura en Inglés de Negocios' to be delivered together with Universidad de Belgrano as of 18 June 2016, we have now set out to move from such a Redefinition to a Reconversion. We will work on training ourselves to become the type of BE trainers that the new paradigm calls for.

If you want to participate virtually, do get in touch! We are planning to go blended this year! The more we are, the more enriching. Come join us either face to face or online!

Coordinator: Virginia Grisolia

APIBA EdTech SIG website

Would you like to engage your students through technology? Are you looking to improve and/or share your ICT skills to enhance your teaching practice and grow professionally? If so, our E-TL SIG is for you! No need to be an expert - just be curious! In our SIG, we learn collaboratively and share our experiences on how ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) can be used to enhance the teaching/learning process. The online meetings are recorded so that siggers can watch them at any time, and new siggers are given online support before their first meeting if requested. E-TL Siggers also have access to a Google Site and Facebook Group with tons of material and suggestions. Join the e-TL SIG and be part of our meetings, no matter where you are!

Language & Phonology SIG

Esta dirección de correo electrónico está siendo protegida contra los robots de spam. Necesita tener JavaScript habilitado para poder verlo.

How many times have you been asked how to say a typical ríoplatense Spanish expression in English? This is what our How-Do-You-Say? Spot focuses on. Are you often at a loss by the mention in books and films of names or references that do not mean anything to us? In our Cultural Awareness Segment, we go into these aspects of English speaking countries, seeking a better understanding of the so-called cultural capsules. In our segment of Tips and Tools we share ideas that have worked for us when teaching and finally, in our Phonology Segment, we discuss recent changes in pronunciation.

Our annual agenda is defined meeting after meeting according to our Siggers' proposals.

The Language and Phonology SIG, following the spirit of every APIBA SIG, gives both teachers and teacher trainees the chance to share and network on an equal footing.

“Postmethods pedagogy recognizes the teachers’ prior knowledge as well as their potential to know not only how to teach but also know how to act autonomously within the academic and administrative constraints imposed by institutions, curricula, and textbooks.” - B. Kumaravadivelu

We need new perspectives in order to deal with new situations, new demands and new environments. APIBA’s Methodology SIG meets once a month to read, discuss and reflect upon methodological issues in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and share daily experiences in the classroom and beyond.
