10.00 - 10.30: Revisiting some ideas about fiction and faction and some approaches to the short story (Poe, Cortázar, Borges, O'Connor).
10.30 - 11.00: Whole-group discussion of two (delicious!) stories by Jeannette Winterson: “Xmas in New York” and “Susie's Xmas Eve Gravlax” (from her latest collection "Xmas Days, 12 Stories and 12 Feasts for 12 Days", Jonathan Cape, 2016)
11.00 - 11.30: COFFEE BREAK
11.30 - 12.30 Division into groups. Stories: "Tergvinder's Stone" by W.S. Merwin and “Wunderkind” by Carson McCullers.
12.00 - 12.30 “The Ballad of the Sad Café” by Carson McCullers (a ‘nouvelle’=’a long story’). Task: Contrast between short story and ‘nouvelle’
